Christian Education

For All Ages

Christian Education in the Three Point Parish of Northern Dutchess

Wednesday evening September 16 Church school students their parents and teachers from Memorial, St. Paul’s and Third Lutheran congregations gathered at the social hall of St. Paul’s to begin an educational adventure together. We were all welcomed, introduced and assigned to classes from pre-school through adult. We were blessed with over forty in the opening assembly.

The enthusiasm continues. Attendance has been good. We gather at 6:30 for an opening exercise led by one of the teachers or pastors and then proceed to our classrooms.

On Wednesday 28 October we had a party with food and organized games and activities. It was a big success and the children had greater opportunity to interact and to get to know each other. The success is that there is learning and a learning community is forming. On Wednesday January 6 the students will present an Epiphany program to which all three congregations are invited. Invite your friends to come and celebrate and join with us in this exciting new journey together. This program will be presented at 6:30 in the Social hall at St. Pauls.

Adult Classes include a variety of opportunities for short-term topical studies that offer learning experiences as well as discussions on biblical texts.  Other items of interest will be offered as desired by the participants that are led by the pastor, members of the congregation and occasional visiting speakers.  Each series is about 4-6 weeks and new opportunities are announced regularly.

EXTERNAL LUTHERAN EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION are sponsored by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, offering four-year and graduate degrees, the closest of which are Wagner College on Staten Island and Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

SEMINARIES for theological education and the preparation of pastors and lay ministers of the church are established and supported by the church. Seminaries generally attended by students from this area include, The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (Mt. Airy) and The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, both in Pennsylvania.

LUTHERAN CAMPUS MINISTRY is established and supported by the church to relate to students and faculty at private, secular and state universities across the country, including the State University of NY, with SUNY at New Paltz being within our local Metro NY Synod Conference.   Also there is a campus ministry presence in campuses throughout New York City.
